32nd Discovery - Say Anything

New self-titled record releasing November 3rd 2009. Here is the new album artwork along with a snippet of something Max himself wrote describing the upcoming record. Also.. below is a link to how you can sign up for Say Anything's email list and receive an email to download a free song from the record titled, "Property."

“The record is about becoming the hero of your own story by fighting against what opposes you, both within yourself and from other people and society. There is a deep spiritual unity that all people possess and once you let go of the sort of mind control you and others can place on yourself, you can tap into it, and it's like having superpowers. It can lead you through an adventure no matter who you are, how dark your past is, or how messed up of a person you think you are." - Max Bemis

You can't beat us, you can't break us, we always live on, and we always stay strong. God bless America and everyone affected by such an event even almost a decade ago. We're still going strong, and we're still the greatest country out there, and I'm honored to be a part of it. Thank you.

28th Discovery - Parties and Friends (and Bullshit)

This is a free exclusive track of The Static Jacks posted on absolutepunk.net .. I really love this new track, I’ve always liked these guys, as sophomores they performed at my senior bash in high school and I was hooked, these new tunes continue to impress. The other track that is there, “My Parents Lied” has been reviewed to say it sounds like Vampire Weekend with balls! haha, love it!

“Parties and Friends (and Bullshit)” is probably my favorite, but be sure to give both great songs a solid listen. They are very talented and very hard workers. They’ve had some great success including having their song “Northern Bank” on the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101. Their third EP “Laces” is releasing on iTunes the 15th of September.

Head on over to www.thestaticjacks.com to check out more about them and download the FREE track “My Parents Lied.”

Previous two EP’s on itunes include..

Sonny Halliday

and

Bridges and Tunnels

Below are links to their myspace and website as well as a video preview for their upcoming EP.

27th Discovery - Outside the Box

So last night at work, we had a bunch of bands come in as part of this radio shoot we were doing for 101.9 with Rich Russo. and i was pretty beat from the late night shoot before, but then a band named Outside the Box came in and really got us going. They are currently the house band for The Stone Pony. I love these guys, they are amazing musicians and they came in, and were recorded and filmed and then went and played a show at the Crossroads and then came back around 1 am or so and just jammed out with us for fun till 4 am. I love my job haha, it was such an amazing day and night no matter how long it is i love it there. Click the link to check these guys out, right now my favorite song is the one all the way on the left. enjoy!!

26th Discovery - Enough for me..

How do we know anything, how do we know what we are meant to do, how do we know who we are meant to be with? Where are we supposed to go, our career, why do certain things happen and certain things just don't. maybe I'm being too existential, I suppose it's mostly just simple curiosity. Maybe these are things we aren't meant to know, maybe it's fate, destiny, I'm not sure if I believe in either of those things. Maybe I do, I guess this is pointless to write. I've just found myself at a weird place these past few days. I'm sure I'll snap out of it, one thing I am sure of, there's all these huge questions of the universe, and to be honest, I'm not sure I want to know the answers, that perhaps they are too huge for any one man to know. I guess what it truly important is that we all figure our lives out piece by piece throughout time, and that, that's just enough of what we need to keep ourselves going. Positivity and optimism goes a long way I firmly believe that. I know I'm going to continue to grow up and learn new lessons and do great things, and that bit of information, is just about all I need. It's... enough for me.

Thanks for reading, see ya'll around. :)

25th Discovery - The Rev... Stop Drop and Roll

The very first televised performance of the Foxboro Hot Tubs. It’s groovy tunes, it’s raw, it’s showmanship, it’s in your face, it’s PBR, it’s lettin’ lose, it’s crowdsurfing while singing perfectly, it’s get up and dance, it’s a saint, it’s a sin, it’s Stop Drop and Roll, it’s Mother Mary, it’s the Reverend Strychnine Twitch.

http://www.greendayauthority.com/foxboro/ - here’s some info and history on how this group came about… even if you don’t like old green day, new green day, or any green day, don’t write this off, this is a whole other monster.

24th Discovery - Dave in the Mornin'

I am listening to Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King a lotttt. I will have a review coming your way. Really want to give the album justice in my review. While you are waiting, here is a very insightful and funny interview with Dave Matthews on a morning radio show.

http://www.1019rxp.com/pinfield/ scroll down a tad and click Dave Matthews and it'll play.

I really recommend taking a listen. There's so much to an album that's added when you learn more about how it came together.

Enjoy.

23rd Discovery - Song of the Century

Green Day's highly anticipated new album "21st Century Breakdown" has been released on May 15th, 2009. To put it simply... buy this record! For those who are looking for them to top American Idiot... they did! For those looking for them to make up for American Idiot because you hated it... they did! And finally, for those who may not even have enjoyed Green Day before and didn't think they could do anything to change your mind... they will with this! The flow from song to song, the characters, it really brings to life the golden days when it was about the album, not just the individual songs, and yet, each of these songs can stand alone on their own quite well at the same time. Yes, this is even including the single Know Your Enemy, may take a bit, but it'll grow on you as it did for me. Then again I could be totally wrong and this may not be for you at all, but what I can say, is that it's impossible to deny the hard work and talent that has been put into this record. Give it a go, enjoy.

Nineteenth Discovery - Important Things

Eighteenth Discovery - It's not a fucking game...

Now I don't know tons about the inner workings of the economy and all that so there is not much I can say on the matter... but I just wanted to point out and share that I think this is some of the most intense and best reporting I've seen done on The Daily Show.

http://blog.indecisionforever.com/2009/03/13/jon-stewart-and-jim-cramer-the-extended-daily-show-interview/

Take a look at that I think it's important to watch. That's all for now.

Fourteenth Discovery -- Lucky Lemmings

Okay, so I know I've skipped blog number thirteen. I'm not really a superstitious man, but this blog is about gambling, and I am taking all precautions to not cause bad luck for future activities in that nature haha.

So this weekend I went gambling in Delaware. Played the slots, specifically a game titled, Lucky Lemmings. This game is hilarious. It's so much fun, I play it for the bonus because it makes me so happy haha. This bonus video can go up to five minutes as I've seen haha. It includes lemmings jumping off a cliff and bouncing into caves that win you money. Sometimes it will take you into space or even scuba diving, and more wonderful little things. I recommend playing it if you ever get a chance. It's incredible!

I would also like to state that gambling is a lot of fun, but especially with these slots, the flashing lights, comical animation, and music that I really want to put on my iPod haha, it is difficult to walk away haha. I did win twenty dollars this weekend, but I was a hot shot and bought a round of drinks for those I was with haha. I walked away with a dollar. All in all, a solid and fun weekend. That's all for now.

Below I've included a video of Lucky Lemmings bonus that I found on youtube, sadly it doesn't show off the best parts of the bonus, but still fun to watch. Enjoy!

Twelfth Discovery - Red Lights In The Sky

Red lights spotted over New Jersey. Many believe to be UFO's, claiming they were flying in an odd pattern and took off very fast at the end of it all. It's undeniable that this was real and not a plane. Were they UFO's? Or just a prank. You decide. For me it's all to easy to discard this event when there is no evidence of it being a hoax. Perhaps someday the secrets of events like this and many others will be addressed. I don't know if these were UFO's, but I'd like to find out, and certainly, when you think about how huge the universe is.. it's impossible to think that we are the only intelligent life-forms that exist. The truth is out there.

Eleventh Discovery - The Bum Beard

So I got surgery recently, it'll be awesome, but right now it kind of sucks haha. Slings are very uncomfortable I must say haha. So I shaved the day of my surgery. One amazing thing about surgery is the license to be a bum. I don't shave, I wear pajamas all day. There is not much to say, but the beard is going and I don't know when I'll shave it haha. In this photo I have sported the beard and the scar (still bandaged up). Throughout time perhaps I'll show off some of my kickass pjs and update on the awesome scar when the bandages are off. Stay tuned. By the way photo booth is dumb and makes it look like my right shoulder, but it is actually my left. I'm a lefty so working on doing everything righty is annoying, but I still kick ass in wii bowling, yeah that's right haha. We'll see what other one handed wonders I can work out, I'll say one thing, writing with my right hand.. not one of them; eating a delicious brownie, definitely one of them haha. Alright, back to watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall, so funny haha. Oh yeah, that's another thing, just got netflix, I love it! Get it! Use it! Alright that's all.

By the way, a shout out to Sam, this blog about the hobo beard was a request by her haha. Your welcome Sam! Even though I may have gone off topic a bit. Moral of the story: When I get bummed about surgery, I just stop being bummed and be awesome instead. True story.

Tenth Discovery - Blink-182 Returns!

So I haven't posted in a while because I got to the tenth post and couldn't decide what to post about because I felt that the tenth post should be something special you know? Well tonight that happened. Blink-182 made their first public appearance together since the break up. This event occurred at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. Before they presented an award for rock album or something. They announced their return. There has been much speculation after it was announced that the three members were back to hanging out together. This was the first official public announcement to confirm all the rumors that so many were wishing to be true. On their website they have also left a personal statement saying:

"Hi. We're blink-182. This past week there've been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, we're back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy. Summer 2009. Thanks and get ready..."

Blink-182, welcome back. I'm incredibly stoked. It's going to be a gnarly year.

"I think we're gonna be one of those bands that's around forever, and always makes records, even if no one's buying them and using them for toilet paper, but we'll still make them because they'll be the best fucking toilet paper anyones ever used."
--Tom DeLonge (Urethra Chronicles Part II)

Ninth Discovery - She & Him

This is my first post of 2009. It's been a bit since my last post, but when I heard about this album I had to check it out, and when I listened to it, I had to write about it. So my first post of the new year is actually about something that came out... last year. This album I'm talking about is by an artist named She & Him. That may not mean much to you, but it contains indie artist M. Ward and actress Zooey Deschanel (Elf, Yes Man). I did some researching to learn that Zooey has been writing songs her whole life, and after meeting M. Ward on the set of The Go-Getter and doing a duet with him, he heard some of her demos and lo and behold She & Him was born. They released their first record, Volume 1, in March 2008. Zooey's sweet soprano voice is complemented wonderfully by M. Ward's instrumentation. I recommend reading the article on them in Paste magazine to learn more about the group. My personal opinion of this record is that it's fun, relaxing, bubble-gum, and folky. To me this is a great album to listen to relaxing outside in the summer time but I can just as easy listen to it any other season of the year. As many actors and actresses have attempted the movies to music switch, most fail honestly, but Zooey succeeds so well. A very 60's sound at times yet still so much their own. The recording of the record has an old school\indie tone to it that truly suits the music they've created for it. They are a great duo and needless to say I was very excited to hear that they are already working on the next record, Volume 2. Keep an eye out for it and definitely pick up Volume 1.
